NATIONAL RESERVE
B Company, Wellington East, paraded in good force at. tho Clyde Quay schoolground last Friday for sectional and company drill. The company is now provided with Mauser rifles. A general meeting, presided' over by Captain Ivupli, was afterwards held. It was decided to change the weekly parade night to Thursday, as the general Saturday half-holiday, prvented a good number of business men from attending cn Friday night. Arrangements have been made to obtain the use of the City Corporation miniature rifle range in Clyde Quay. Two squads are being entered, in the Carnival competition. Lieutenant S. L. Partridge having presented a full set of flags, a signalling squad has been formed. Mr. S. Robinson, who was heartily thanked by the meeting, has secured the services of two drummers for the company, and is arranging for tho attendance of two buglers. Ono of tho members complained that the National Reserve badge was being worn by people not belonging to tho organisation, and urged that this irregular practice ts stopped forthwith: The N.C.O. class presented a wristlet watcli to Lieutenant W. 6. Brian, of the Wellington Post and Telegraph Rifles, in recognition of his many- valuabel services to the company. Lieutenant Brian is now at Trenthain. Major Veitch will bo absent in Australia for three months, and Mr. H. B. Bridge will act as chairman during his absence. As Lieutenant W. 11. Jones could not devote the necessary timo to tho work, Quartcr-mapter-Sergcant J. C. Redmond has been appointed as lion, secretary.
