The animal report of tlio Wellington Bowling Club states tlwt the year comn.enced with a debit balance of £128 17s. 3d., and closed with a debit balance or £4 Is. 10d. After an interval of three seasons, the club was again successful in winning the Senior Pennant —after tieing with the Petone Club. Of the seven matches played, six wore won and one lost, the club scoring 843 points as against 7-10. The Duthie Cup was played for at Wanganui, the club b.'im; represented by Messrs. Salek,. Broilie, Burr;', Moult (s.), and Messrs. Bush, Villinms, Veitch, Webb (s.), who succeeded in securing possession of the coveted trophy ._ The club had the pleasure of entertaining four rinks from the Christchurch Club, who succeeded in winning the match by a margin of 33 points. The "Friendly Bowl" was handed over to tha visitors. The club was represented by 12 rinks at the Wellington Centre's annual tournament, which was eventual!,v won b.v Messrs. C. A. Innes, W. Waddel, C. Bary, and J. Porteous (s.). The club was also represented at the Dominion Bowling Association Tournament, the Wellington Centre's Easter Tournament, and in the Champion of Champions' matches, without, however, having any success to record. Members also took part in the New Zealand Association's Tournament at Christcluireh, and the Palmerston North i»nd Nelson Tournaments. ]n the annual fixture against the Combined City and Suburban Clubs the club scored its eleventh consecutive win by a margin of 133 points. Sixteen rinks were played, and the club was successful in 14 of them. During the season a number of friendly I matches against local and visiting clubs were played. One hundred and thirty rinks represented the club in these matches, and scored 2658 points, as against 2505. During the year 24 new members were elected, while the losses from resignations and deaths totalled IG. The present membership of the club (including 13 country members) stands at 212. The directors regret to record the loss the club has sustained by .the death of Messrs. A. Maguire, F. Cohen, Stan. Brown, and G. Pinnock. Two members of the club, Messrs. F. L. Ashbolt and L. 11. Campbell, were accepted for service with the Expeditionary Forces. Members responded to the call for subscriptions to the Patriotic Fund by subscribing £JO6 3s. A further sum of £33 6s. 6d. was contributed by members to the Belgian Relief Fund. Of this amount £24 6s. 6d. was realised at a sale of plants and flowers (presented by Miss Muir) on the club's opening day, and £9 represented the entrance fees of a Club Pairs Tournament held on Boxing Day. Club members were also concerned in ihe raising of an additional sum of .C-J9 fls. Gd., for the same fund, £11 Bs. Gil., £30, anil £8 Is. being collected and contributed bv the players taking part on both sides in the Duthie Cup, the C'lristeliureli Club ("Friendly Bowl"), and the Feilding Club matches respectively.
