CONTESTS CONCLUDED. SOME CLEVER CHILDREN. Such a beautiful voice slxuld not be overworked. The children reciters wero all very gcad. Maria Milesi, with the wealth of Latin temperament, Josie Bailey, with her natural cuteness, and Svlvia Udy, with her splendid voiae and acute sense of tonal value:-, were excellent', and ample promise was shown by Kita M'Gee, Florence Churchill, Doris Symes, ftgaire Lemmon, and others. Leila Kid-dell, whose confidence and memory served him well as a smaller boy is inclined to be uniformly loud and hard. There is 110 shading in his work. Master Robert Smith is a lad of promise, and a patriot through and through. The character sketch work was all good. Mr. H. G. Shakes is a promising young man, and showed a pronounced versatility on Saturday by acting a bit of Uriah Heap, and following it with a ■well-studied, reading of "Clarence's Dream.' Mr. W, A. SAVAGE CLUB'S CONCERT. Tlio committee of the Savage Club's Carnival Concert, have penned the following quaint announcement for tlicir entertainment;— "The programme arranged for tho Wellington Ravage Club's concert in tlio Concert Chamber of tlie Town Hall 011 Thursday evening will be one of the most insipid ever presented to a New 'Zealand audience. According to Mr. Jas. (who does not know anything .about it) everybody is advised to keep away, .tickets can be obtained at the Bristol, and' that's the end of it. If you happen to bo musically inclined pay a visit to tho Concert Chamber and you will not be rewarded. The r-lecutionary items are reported to be of the worst type. In fact, if you want a hoadaclie keep away on Thursday, but send your money, is every little helps towards tho fund lor our wounded soldiers." COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' CONCERT. Under the auspices of the Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association a Sunday concert was given at His Majesty's Theatre last night, in aid of the Wounded Sailors' and Soldiers' I'und. A capital programme was arranged, and a substantial collection resulted. Tne house was packed in every quarter, the Hon -V L. llerdman being among those present The vocal items included solos by Miss Driscoll, Mrs. J. F. Woodward, and Messrs. Sehvyn, Halliwell, and Caldow, and a duet by Messrs. Sydney Exton and Sidney Allwright. The instrumental numbers were; Cornet solo by My. J. Parker, violin solo by Miss Peggy 13am, and trio by Miss Peggy Bain (violin), Mr. J. W. .Dick ('cello), and Mrs. Dick (piano). Tlio accompanists were Air. Frank Crowther and Mr. Thomas. During the evenin;' Miss Rita M'Cice rccited "The. Appeal,'" and a special collection taken up at tho time realised the sum of ,CU Ss. sd. WELLINGTON AMATEUR CHORAL CLUB. The Wellington Amateur Choral Club is providing two conceits in the Concert Chamber this evening and to-morrow evening m aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Two distinct programmes are being provided, each of exceptional merit, lor this evening's performance, 111 addition to several choral items by tlis club, tho programme will include items by Miss Beere's dance pupils, solos by Mrs. J. A. Koscwarite, "The Cry of Bachael," Mrs. Plark, Miss Violet Muller, "Waiata Maori" (assisted by tlie club's chorus), Messrs. lieg. Blinv, ■ "The Gunner," 11. Dunn, J. Bryant, Stark, and recitations by Miss Chapman and Miss Fathers. Box plan for the two concerts is now open at I he Bristol Piano Co., which firm is kindly lending tho piano.

MAORI ENTERTAINMENT. Tho Maoris will present at the Largo Town. Ilall to-morrow night a novel and attractive programme'of exclusively Native items, under tho auspices of the Commercial Travellers' Club, the secretary of which reports that all arrangements arc ntiw complete. Included in the programme are some poi dances and hakas which hitherto have not been seen in Wellington. The performers, some fifty all told, have for tho last four weeks, trained assiduously, and have now attained a high degree of efficiency. Tho Commercial Travellers' Club lias arranged for a special train to leave Lauibton Station for Upper Ilutt at 11.30 p.m., to enable patrons from the suburban districts (o see the whole of the programme of tho Maori entertainment.
