FIRES
The Fire Brigade received a call to suppress a lire which broke out m a five-roomed house. No. 15 Denvent Street, Island Bay, shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday. The outbreak was suppressed after the {Jiningroom and contents of the house had been rather severely damaged. The house, which was occupied by Mr. Joseph Harloii, had its contents insured for £150. The insurance on the building, which belongs to the H. J. Lepper Estate, was not ascertainable yesterday. The outbreak' origianted through the ignition of some linen which was airing in front of an open fireplace. In the evening the Brigade was called out to a chimney fire which occurxed in a house in Thorudon Quay.
The "Greenfields" herd of pedigree Ayrshire cows, the property of Messrs. Webb and Son, Koputaroa, will be auctioned• by Messrs. Dalgety and Co. on the Palmerston North show grounds, on June 24. The leasehold property known as "Okahau". consisting of 3089 acres, situated at Mangatu, will be sold by .njption by Messrs. Williams ami Kettle, Ltd., Gislxirne, on July 2. An unreserved auction sale of pedigree Ayrshire and other dairy stock, owned by Mr. Charles Woodley, Palmerston North, will be held by Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., on June 22.
