HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Dan Thomas, the vt>rsatiie comedian, now appearing at llis -Majesty's Theatre, lias become a firm favourite with patrons of vaudeville. Late of "Tim Babes in the Wood" Company, Dan Lnomas is a clever comedian, and his contributions last evening were thoroughly enjoyed. Val and Lottie Newman are a pair of entertaining artists, their latest comedy, "ltevuo Titbits," is amusing. Some clever comedy judggling is presented this week by Royal and Ross. Other artists who are appearing at His Majesty's are: "Tho three Ruddles," Miss Eileen Fleury, Edwards and Parkes, Tom Dawson, Gcurtenay and Shaw, and Lumley and Rhodes. A matinee is announced for to-morrow afternoon, commencing at 2.30 o'clock. KING'S THEATRE. A story of war and sacrifice is being told at the King's Theatre in the current week's programme. "A Question of Courage" is a drama- that tugs at tho heart-strings, end thrills the patriotism of all who see it. it is a picture that must be seen to bo appreciated, because words fail to describe its beauty and pathos. "Fatty, Mabel, and the Law" is an exceptionally funny comedy, at which tlio most sober-minded cannot lefrain to laugh. There is also an excellent series of supporting pictures, 9"°> "Making American Greenbacks" (dollar bills) being a line educational film. Dudley Buxton's cartoons are features of their class, and the latest War Gazette is well up to standard. A matinee will take place to-morrow. EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. Daily from noon on till 10.30 p.m. a startling military drama, "War is Hell," is being produced at Everybody's Theatre in Manners Street. It is a 6tory of Belgium's gallant light against the Germans. The picture gives one a vivid impression of the Gorman method of warfare. It also shows the magnificent spirit in which our own British soldiers entered the fighting lino against superior numbers. The principal comedy now showing is one of Keystone's best, "Hogan's Mussy Job." featuring Charles Murray, tho company's now comedian. To-day and to-morrow will be the last opportunities of seeing this excellent programme, MACMAHON'S THEATRE. "The Price of Vanity," the feature of tho new_ bill at AlacMahon's Theatre, is a fine social drama with a strong feminine interest. It is-a human study of everyday life of absorbill"; power, and is essentially a story of the modern school. "From a Life ol Crime" is another drama of excellent parts dealing with the reclaiming of a young girl who had thrown in her lot with a_ coterie of swell mobsmen, by the simple call of her dead mother's voice. The comedy section is strong with "Bunny Backslides," the last of the Bunny series, tho popular comedian having crossed the Great Divide. "A Belated Honeymoon" is humour of a bright and crisp nature, and the Gaumont Graphic, the very latest picture letter from Home, is full of interesting topical subjects.

THE EMPRESS THEATRE. The new programme at the Empress Theatre Continuous Pictures .yesterday introduced the filial part of Selig's wild animal drama, "The Adventures of Kathlyii." U is represented tlint Katli].vn and lier party, having escaped liein!;; overwhelmed by the lava from the volcano, move on to find the treasure Thfly discover that the wily TJmballa'h lias stolen the gold and escaped in a small boat to the mainland. Katlil.vii and her people follow him. When Umballali is about to bury the treasure two leopards suddenly appear, and he takes flight. Kathlyn's party recover the gold, but are taken by surprise hy TTmballali and bis armed guard. Ka.thl.yn, her father, and her sistei. nro compelled to proceed to tile amphitheatre and when the lions are about to be released into the arena- Bruca and some Government soldiers rcscuo tlhem. The gold is secured and at Kathlvn's request given to tlie poor. Tlmballali is arrested and condemned to life imprisonment on the treadmill. Katlilyn accepts Bruce's proposal and the party embark for their home in California. The best of tlie minor films are _ "The Australian Gazette," '"nie Choice" (Vita drama), and "Fatty's New Role" (Keystone comedy). ORGAN RECITAL. A most enjoyable organ recital was given at Trinity Church, Newtown, last evening by Mr. Norman Collie, Mus. Bac., in aid of tlie Wounded Soldiers' and Sailors' Fund. An attractive programme, carefully chosen with regard to the possibilities of the organ, wa6 dealt with by tli.e recitalist to the evident enjoyment of a numerous audience. It included Mendelssohn's "Military Overture," the "Great G Minor" liugue (Bach), and some smaller pieces by modern English and French composers. Miss Ena AVard contributed two vocal solos in an artistic-manner. The Mayor, Mr. J. P. Luke, was present, and during tlie interval moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Collie for tlie very enjoyable evening he bad given them. He (Mr. Luke) had many calls on his time, but he felt it his duty and pleasure to be present at this tlie recital of an old Wellington boy, who had grown up amongst "them.
