"On the same days, the Germans attacked in the district south of Zydaczow and occupied tho village of Roguzno. At dawn on the following day the Russians retook the village of Zaravno, capturing guns. Tho Germans fired after showing the white llag, but all were killed subsequently in bayonet fighting. "On Sunday the enemy continued to attack Nie.szniow in considerable force with numerous guns. Tho Russians repulsed the attacks, and captured 1300 prisoners. "Between tho Dniester and the Prutli the Russians retired from Czornowitz across the State frontier. GERMAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE FORTY THOUSAND PRISONERS SINCE SATURDAY. London, June 16. A Berlin communique states: "The defeated Russians on Wednesday attempted to arrest our pursuit on the Sa'n front between Sieniawa and the Dniester marshes. After hard fighting the Russians were thrown out of their positions by evening. 1 "Since June 12 General Mackensen has taken prisoner 40,000, and captured 69 machine-guns. The Russians gained son* ground between tho Dniester marshes and Zaravno. AUSTRIANS CLAIM ENORMOUS CAPTURES. (Rec. June 17, 7.20 p.m.) London, June 17. An Austrian official communique claims that during the last fifteen days they captured 106 Russian officers, men, fifty-three cannon, 187 ma-chine-guns, and fifty-eight wagons."
