The sixty-nine additional nurses will bo chosen from the many hundreds of applicants. Other pings being equal, they will be selected in order of application, but consideration mil be given to merit and to the recommendations of the matrons and the £™ c .'P al S" 1 !??. 1 officers in tho various districts. Tho Minister of Public Health, whose Department is attending to the selection of tho nurses, said yesterday that he was sure a good selection ■would bo made, but he believed there wouldbe many among the unsuccessful appli- - cants quite fit for the service. He stated also that in addition to the of the contingent of 100, the complement of eight or ten for service on the Hospital Ship would also be sent. This -would make up a total of. 170 nurses of the flew Zealand Army Nursing Service sent from New Zealand to the front.
