VIMUS FIGHTING IN POLAND MASSED ATTACKS ON THE GALICIAN FRONT The High Commissioner reports:Operations in the Baltic Provinces. --"In the Baltic provinces 011 Monday the Russians repulsed repeated attempts by great forces of the enemy to cross thu River Windau, near Listzkow, and inflicted lieavy losses. The Russians delivered an exceptionally audacious counter-attack, durmg which several companies of the Tyrolese Rifles and the 20th Jaeger Battalion were almost entirely sabred and dispersed. The 14th detachment of Russian Territorials counter-attacked, and, supported by other units, took 4UU prisoners including ,8 officers.
