ENTERTAINMENTS
9 THE PANTOMIME. This evening the pantomime "Cinderella," in many respects tho best of many good shows that the Williamson Proprietary have produced here, will bo shown for the last time. This afternoon there will be a matinee to allow children too small to sit out an evening performance an opportunity of seeing tho show, a show which appeals to them quite as much as to grown-ups. Last night the audienco was a good ono, and of course tho people could scarco fail to appreciate the performance. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The relapse to simple vaudeville again in the programme at His Majesty's Theatre has not made the entertainment any less attractive or less - amusing. Among the artists showing is a preponderance of humorists, the best acts being those of Dau Thomas and Val and Lottie Newman. After their very different mothods these contrivo to make all laugh alike. There is a juggling act too which is not without its comedy, and various character singers have cheerful ditties to sing. THE KING'S THEATRE. In boldest type on the King's Theatre programme this week is the title "A Question of Courage," the title of a picture in keeping with the spirit of times when "silken dalliance in tho wardrobe lies." The film is based oil an incident of the American Civil War, a war which happened just long ago enough for tho story-writer to take liberties with history. It is a wholesome story that the picture tells, and a drama that is being enacted with slight variations in real life in many lands to-day. EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. ""War is Hell" is the title of the picture which is the feature of the bill at- Everybody's Theatre this week. And the picture shows about as well as a picture could possibly show that the words of its title enunciate a truism. It purports to reproduce certain happenings on ono of the many battlefields in Flanders, the Belgians and British fighting the Huns. The Keystone comedy is called "Hogan's Mussy Job." Of course Charles Murray, the Keystone people's new comedian, is Hogan, ana the "mussy job" is plastering. Hogan plasters promiscuously, and he plasters a lot. MACMAHON'S THEATRE. "Captain Alvarez," tho big five-act Argentine drama now showing at MacMalion's Theatre, continues to attract largo attendances. It is a spirited and I stirring story, full of ■ incident, and never sagging front start to finish. The story is a well-constructed ono, and is always true to life. It carrics plenty of sensation with a good balance of actuality, ■ and a pretty love story i« interwoven with the more adventurous theme. It will be shown for the last time to-night. The main comedy element'is a capital farce, entitled "A Corner in Hats," -which is irresistibly provocative of unrestrained merriment. The current number 'of the Pathe Gazette is one of special interest, embodying a series of particularly effective war episodes. In to-morrow's change of programmo pride of place will bo taken by "The Price of Vanity," a strong Vitagraph social drama. "Tho Belated Honeymoon" and "Bunny Backslides" will -be tho principal comedy items, and the programme will be rich in other topical and dramatic features. THE EMPRESS THEATRE. Tho final screening will take place to-day and to-night of .the current series of tho Empress Theatre continuous pictures, headed by the Reliance Company's "feature" drama, "Ono Plight Up." This production deals with the sensational exploits of a young lady reporter. The supporting films comprise "Tho Topical Budget" (with scenes connected with the war), "Trappod by Heliograph" (Plying A. drama), "Rural Demons" (Universal comedy), and "Coloured Villainy" (Keystone coon comedy). Tho new programmo to-morrow will bring forward tho final part of Selig's sensational wild animal drama, "The Adventures of Kathlyn."
