The mine manager of the Waihi ReefsGigantic reports as follows on the work at the mine:—The advancement inade in 1000 feet level crossouts is 18 fct in north end and 14 feet in S.E.; total for week, 32 feet. The country has come in exceedingly hard in tho S.E. face, and has caused progress measurement to be less this week. At first the country was light in colour, but has now changed to a dark shade, and is hard to blast. We have now had over 30 feet of the harder country, and hope that it will prove to be only a narrow belt. The total distance out from start at Chamber is 102 feet. In the north face the country is milder and light in colour, but changeable, and contains mineral and silica veins. The distance out from shaft here is 494 feet.
