MANUKA ARRIVES AT MIDNIGHT. A wireless message wa.s rccoivcd by tho local offico of the Union Company last evening from tho captain of tho Manuka stating that his vossel would not arrive at Wellington from Sydney till midnight to-night. Sho has ovdently been delayed by bad weather in the Tasmau Sea- Tho Manuka will berth at the Queen's Wharf, No. 1 north, to-morrow morning. REMUERA AT HOBART. The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company have been advised that a wireless messago has been roccived. from tho captain of R..M.S. Remuera, stating that he expected liis vessel to make Hobart. from London, via Capo Town, to-day. Tho Remuera, is due at Wellington on Sunday next. SYDNEY-AUCKLAND SERVIOE. The weekly sctvlcc between Auckland and Sydney was recommenced yesterday with the departure of the Navua. The vessel will return -to Auckland on Sunday, Juno 27, when she will be withdrawn. The subsequent sailings from Auckland after the Navua will be made ne follow;—Tho Westralie, on June 21, the Niagara (due from Vancouver on Juno 27) on June 28, tho Rivcrina on July 5. Mararoa oil July 12, R.iverina, on July 18, Makura on July 26. Riverina. on August 2, Mararoa. on August 9, and so on. It will bo noticed that the connection will be made once a. month by the inward mail steamer from Vancouver, while the Mararoa, when she enters the service, will only make one trip a month from Auckland. This means that she will remain at Auckland for a fortnight after each trip from Sydney. The Mararoa will arrive at Auckland on a Sunday, wliilo the Riverina ond the two mail steamers will arrive on Mondays. Tho mail steamers when making the trip will carry intercolonial passengers and cargo at the rates ruling on tho ordinary steamers. THE NIWARU. A Press Association message stated that the C. and D. liner Niwo.ru had left London for Australian and Now Zealand ports. Up till yesterday the local agents had not received official advice of tho vessel's departure. It ha-s boon announced, however, that the Niwaru was to have sailed from London on Juno 13. SHAW-SAVILL SAILINGS. Tho Shaw-Savill liner Kia Ora left Ucwcostlo for Oamarti at 7 a.m. on Saturday. She will commence loading at the southern port, to-morrow. After visiting other coastal ports the vessel will be dispatched from Wellington for London on June 30. sSpeaking to a DOMINION reporter yesterday. an official of the head office staff said that with the departure of tho Ida Ora tho number of Shaw-Savill steamers which had been dispatched from New Zealand for Home was 18 since January of this year. For the same period last year the number of departures was 19—tho odd steamer being tho Tokomaru. which was sunk off Havre at the beginning of tho war. TO LOAD O.N THE PACIFIC SLOPE. Latest mail advices to hand contain the information that an exceptionally large fleet of sailing vessels have been fixed to load timber on the Pacific Slope. In oil there are eighteen vessels, including fourmasted barques, schooners, and barquentines, mostly of American registry. In most cases tho owners must be more than satisfied at the high rate of freight secured by them. It is stated that tho hulk of the timber the fleet will carry will no doubt tie discharged at Sydney. NEW YORK SAILINGS. Later information has been received by the local agents for the C. ond D. Line concorning thoir New York sailings for Now Zealand ports. The Port Philip will be dispatched on June 17 for Wellington direct, being due here about July 22. The Wha-ka-rua has been fixed to Icavo New York for Auckland and Sydiiey on June 23. Both steamers a-ro coming via the Panama Canal. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. .Mr. J. V. Bray, second officer of tho ' nma, has left that vessel. Mr. W. M'lntosh, who has been actingmate of the Kapiti, has come ashore, and Mr. V>. H. Stevens Alls tho vacancy. Mr. J. Stewart, fifth engineer of tho Wahine, hn6 come ashore. Mr. D. C. Lane, wireless operator of the Monowai, has como ashore for orders. Tho Gisborne correspondent of the "Lvttelton Times" states that Captaiu J. Benton has tendered his resignation as harbourmaster to the Gisborne Harbour Board, hp having accepted, tho position of master of tho steamer Omana. the latest addition to the Craig Line. Mr. M. J. Cameron, of tho local office of tho Union Company, who has joined the Reinforcements, is at present on a visit to Lyttelton. Mr. G. C. Lennox Robertson, formerly store-keeper on the Auckland wharf for the Northern Company, has been given a second lieutenant's commission in the artillery in England. An arrival in port from Singapore, via Auckland, to-day, will be the- British Imperial Oil Company's Ph-ysa. She is bringing a, load of case oil. and will go on to southern ports with the balance. The Shaw-Savill liner Waiwera, will visit Nelson about July 5 to lift 3CCO carcasses of mutton for Home. A load of 55,000 feet of timber arrived at Wellington from Hokianga by tho Holmdale yesterday morning. Tho Shaw-Savill liner Athonic, which clearcd London on May 8, is due at Auckland on June 26, end at Wellington about July 6. Continuing her trip to southern lighthouses, the Government steamer Hincmon. left Dunedin at noon yesterday. Due at Wellington from New Plymouth this morning, the Corinna will return to P®? 1 Ulis evening. She will again "\isit Wellington on Diweday to locul cargo for southern ports. The Paparoa is expected to arrivo at Wellington from London, via way ports, on Sunday or Monday next. As the Maitai was late in leaving San Francisco for Wellington, via Papeete and Rnrotonga, she is not expected to arrive at Wellington before Friday of this week at earliest-. It has been decided to send tho vessel on to Lyttelton' to pick up cargo for Sydney. Departure is expected to be taken from the southern port on Monday next. The kittawa, with a full load of produce and cheese, is due from tho Bluff on Friday. An cxpectod arrival in port from Newcastle, via Sydney, on Thursday morning is the Union collier Kurow. She left Sydney at 10 p.m. on Friday last. On account of bad weather on the West Coast the Arahura. did not arrive at- Westport from Wellington, via way ports, till 11 a.m. yesterday. Her trip to Greymouth lias been abandoned this week, and she has been fixed to leave Westport for Nelson at 10 a.m. to-day. Departure will be taken for Picton and Wellington at 10 p.m., and port should bo mode about 5 p.m. to-mor-row. The W oolioii left. Lyttelton for Wanganni yesterday. She proceeds thence- to Nydia Bay to load timber for Lvttelt-on, and will subsequently visit Wellington. On account of a heavy sea on the bar, Greymouth was unworkable yesterday. To secure a full crew to mnn the new Huddart-Parker liner Hcbburn, an exceptionally high rate of pay had to be paid at Blyt-he recently. Sailors and firemen were signed on at £9 per month, greasers at' £9 10s., and stewards and carpenters are to receive £11. The Union Company's Mokoia. is due at Wellington from Melbourne, nohiirt, and southern ports on Saturday, June 19. She will leave here the same day for Melbourno direct, thus omitting the usual call at Hobart this trip. Produce will be loaded by the Waipori at tlio Bluff. Oainaru. and Timaru this week for Napier. Gisborne, and Auckland.
