The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for Sew Zealand, dated London, June 12. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, arc averane market prices on spot) Moat.—There i 6 a poorer demand for all grades of meat on account of the high prices ruling, together with hot weather. Mutton.—The market remains firm owing to short supply available for the general public. Canterbury, 7d. per lb.; heavyweights, 6|d.; North Island, 7(1. for lights weight.; ordinary Quality. 63d.; ewes, 6.1 d. Lamb—The market is weaker, though not actually lower. Canterbury. 8 3-Bd. per lb. for all weights; other than Canterbury, 8 3-Bd. for best quality light-weight. Beef.—New Zealand beef is not quoted. Oow hinds are selling ae high as 7Jd. per Ib.i fores, 6id.; chilled hinds, Bid.; fores. 7 3-Bd. 1 Butter.—The market is steady and prices are firm. Danish, per cwt., 1465. to 1495.New Zealand, 140s. to 1425.; Australian! 1365. to 138s„ and up to 1405.; Siberian, 130s. to 1325.; Argentine. 1365. to 1385.; Irish creamery, 138s. to 1445. Cheese—Duriug this week the tone of the cheese- market has completely changed. The market closed didl, -with less inquiry, and prices ore declining. Canadian, white, per cwt.. 965. to 975.; coloured, 945. to 96e.; New Zealand, white, 965. to 985.. and up to 995.; coloured. 955. to 975. and up to 965.; United States, in fair demand. 925. to 955. Hemp.—The market is quiet; small business doing. The Manila, output continues large owing to stocks of old grading forwarded. for shipment before export is prohibited by a law coming into force ot the end of June. The output from Manila for tho week ending June 5 was 28,000 bales. Fair current Manila, per ton. £39. New Zealand; A limited demand exists for near positions, but forward shipment Is neglected. Gilbert, Anderson and Co., stating that, they think it importaiit lor freezing companies to ta-ke the present opportunity to abolish the London allowance of one pound per carcass on lambs and two pounds per carcass on mutton, and reducing the allowance off hot weight to 4 per cent giving London brokers the necessary notice that meat will be sold only oh net weight-. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. (Eec. June 14, 11.5 p.m.) Sydney, June 14. The wool sales have opened strong for good wools; faulty are neglected. Prices are unchangod. WHEAT AND FLOUR. London, June 13. The wheat market is dull at a shilling dec'ine. Indian and other sorts nominal. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom totals 2,970,000 quarters; for the Continent, 3,105,000; Atlantic shipments, 553,000; Pacific, nil. The total shipments to Europe during the week were 1,115,0C0 quarters, including; Indian, 237,000; Argentina, 184,000. COAL EXPORTS. Creymouth, June 14.
