HOSPITAL SHIP CHAPLAINS.
Sir,—l notice with great regret in Saturday's Dominion that Dr. Gibb has ■fc taken exception to- tho arrangements ' made by the Minister of Defence in re■r gard to the Hospital Ship. His Excellency the Governor, who has taken £ charge of the-fitting up of tie ship, 1_ . tos w '" the finest Hospital e Ship afloat, and the spiritual needs of •a our ,® en j the brief time they are a 011 J, S "'P' 6 h a 'l be ministered to by ir A ,°f. England and a Roman Gathoho chaplain, as provided 'by Impenal Regulations. I hardly think Mr. Allen would mis-read his instructions on ]. such an important matter as this, and 1- J s rather a preposterous suggestion for Dr. Gibb to make. An Anglican cba plain can surely attend to the spiritual welfare of the Nonconformist, and [. provided a broad-minded niau is chosen for the position he should be able to be a friend to all, in their hour of sufc- faring. We hear a lot of preachin" r, nowadays about the "One United w Church," but apparently when put to )f the te6t we are too bigoted and narrowis ' minded to give effect to our ideals. Furtber, we cannot afford to send a small A. army of chaplains for 400 men.—l am, )f etc., DEWARDO. [6 Greytown.
