The Mayor, Mr. J. J. Corry, at a meeting on Saturday, inaugurated a fund for the Marlborough wounded and dependents. There was a liberal response and ,£2600 was promised in the room. Marlborough's full quota for the 7th Reinforcements was enthusiastically farewelled. POSITION IN DUNEDIN. Dunedin, June 14. It was stated at a meeting of the Patriotic Association to-day that the patriotic funds included a sum of i 14,650, representing unconditional donations by tho public. It was resolved to set aside -£13,000 for tlie maintenance and assistance of returned soldiers, sailors, and dependents, also the dependents of those who may dio on active service or may die after their return to the Dominion as a result of active service. The sum of ,£IOOO was allocated for the purpose of local needs. PRACTICAL PATRIOTISM. At the end of last year Messrs. W. Parkinson and Co., monumental sculp, tors, of Auckland, sent forward to the Panama Pacific Exposition a very interesting exhibit, consisting of a bird study in marble, standing on an alabaster pedestal. The firm has written to the secretary of the New Zealand Executive Committeo connected with the Exposition, informing him that it desires tho exhibit to be disposed of as soon as possible after the close of the Exposition, and the proceeds credited to the fund which has been established for assisting wounded and disabled New Zealandera.
