PRISONERS OF WAR

RULES FOR THEIR TREATMENT. As a number of New Zealanders who are reported missing are possibly held by the enemy as prisoners of war, tho Minister of Defence gave the following for public information to a Dominion reporter yesterday:— ''International Law makes provision for the treatment of prisoners of war, such prisoners being subject to the following ' conditions amongst others: "(I) They must be humanely treated. "(2) They must he given the same food, quarters, and clothing as the captor's troops. _ "(3). Information regarding prisoners of war is to be furnished by a bureau established in each belligerent State. "(4) Prisoners are to be repatriated as soon as possible after peace."
