Mr. John Sidey, father of Mr. T. K. Sidey, M.P. for Dunedin South, died yesterday, aged 93. The deceased gentleman came to New Zealand in 1848.— Press Association. Merle Bonar, of Hokitika, and Prii- vate Hugh G, Bonar, of Koiterangi, > Hokitika, who were kdled in action on i- April 28 and May 8 respectively, were n sons of the late Hon. James Alexander Bonar, of Hokitika, a former member a of the Legislative Council, and the first rj and only Superintendent of the Westi- land Province. Tlie late Hon. Mr. L . Bonar was keen on soldiering, and was e a volunteer officer during the whole of r his active life, rising to be a lieutenant--0 colonel. He was honoured with the d Victorian decoration and the New Zear u land long-service medal.
