HARBOUR BOARD LOAN
| A DUNEDIN PROPOSAL. e (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dunedin, June 14. ® A special meeting of the Harbour d Board was held this afternoon. The principal question was to consider * whether the board should take steps to ■' borrow £100,000. After a lengthy di&B cussion in committee it was by 6 a narrow majority'that the present time " was not opportune to increase the borj rowing powers. s ® At the Lower Hutt Police Court yes- ® terday, before .Messrs. Chapman and I Holland, J.P.'s, Frank Ell was charged with the theft of six fowls, valued at ® 155., the property of the proprietor of the Family Hotel. Accused stated that B ho had no recollection of the matter. 1 After hearing the evidence, the Bench 1 inflicted a fine of 405., and ordered Ell' 3 to pay the value of the Default 3 was fixed at seven days' imprisonment. E. Skinner, a second-hand dealer, was fined 55., with costs 75., for failing to keep a record of goo.ds bought, sold, or exchanged. Defendant pleaded igi noranco of the terms of the Act. A first-offending inebriate who failed j to appear had his bail ostrcated.
