OBITUARY

MR. E. P. COLLINS. The death of Mr. R. P. Collins, wliieh occurred on Saturday morning at*-Jiis residence, Brougham Street, after an illness of eight months, removes an old and esteemed citizen ol' over. 70 years' residonfco in Wellington. Mr. Collins was born in London, and arrived in Wollington with his parents in 18J2, when ho was oyly eight months of age! When quite a .youth lie was apprenticed to tho lato Mr. John M'Lean, shipwright, at which trade ho worked for many years. Uo took a keeu interest in the gold mining industry on tho Coast in the early days. For the past 35 years lie has lived a retired life, never mixing much in public affairs. Ho was a great lover of boating, and was connectcd with tho Wellington llowing Club in its early days. Deceased was a man of sterling character, and will be very much missed. The circle of regret will be the wider for ho was over ready to help wayfarers on life s road. Ho has left a widow, a son, Mr. J. P. Collins, and three daughters, Miss Collins, Mrs. James Walker, of Plimmerton, and Mrs. Casey, wife of Mr. M. J. Casey, of the City Engineer's staff. MRS. H. W. CURTIS. Mrs. H. W. Curtis, of Wellington, who died last week, was 81 years of age. Sho was a native of Innkkillen, in County Fermanagh, Ireland, and came out, to Sydney in 1853 and arrived in Wellington four years later. She leaves an adult family of two sons and two daughters. MR. HES'RY FIELDER. Tho death occurred at tho Wellington Hospital on Friday of Mr. Henry Fielder, very well known in this City as the proprietor for many years of a large furniture warehouse in Manners Strot. Mr. Fielder, who was G. 3 y»ars of ago, was born in London, and came to Lyttelton with his parents by the ship Glentauner, in September, 1857. In Christchuroh he was associated with his father, tho late Mr. H. N. Fielder, in the furniture trade. 110 en mo to Wellington in the year ISGS, and twelve years later established 'a business in Manners Street. For the past fivo or six years Mr. Fielder has not enjoyed good health, and it was partly en that account that he relinquished the business a couple of years ago to take over a lease of the Family liotel at tho Hutt. The deceased, who was twice married, leaves a widow.
