CAMP FOR RECRUITS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Having read your leading artick iu to-day's Dominion, I -would like to offer a suggestion. Your readers are doubtless aware that Feilding has formed a large branch of tie National Heserve, which has a membership of something like three hundred, and from all appearances it is to be a real liv« affair, thanks to Colonel Porter for having spared the time in coming liere to set tie thing in motion. About one hundred and eighty turned up last evening to enrol on the proper forms, etc., and make a start at the elementary drill,'" etc. We are fortunate here in having an ample supply of es-volun-teer officers, who attended the parade and offered their services to act as instructors for the different platoons. What I wish to suggest is this: Why, could a camp for recruits not be established for the west coast of this Islaua at, say, cither on the Feilding or the Palmerston Tacecourse? These officers would, I am sure, bo only too willing to come forward and give their services in assisting to knock the rough edges off tho raw recruits. The people of Feilding would give the Defenco Department every assistance and welcome the recruits, as they did the brave soldiers of the First Expeditionary Force who made such a fine showing on their route march through our town, last September,—l am, etc., NATIONAL RESERVE.
