COALITION GOVERNMENT SUCCESTED. NOT FAVOURED BY LABOUR. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright (Rec. June 10, 9.45 p.m.) Melbourne, June 10. In view of Great Britain's recent action a suggestion has Been mooted to form a National Government in Australia, but it finds no favour in the Federal Ministry or in the. rank and file of the' Labour Party. Ministers decline to be drawn. Asked in the House whether there was any intention of forming a coalition Ministry and whether there was a likelihood of a party truoe during the currency of the war, Mr. Fisher, the Prime Minister, replied that the Government would bring in no party legislation, but legislation for the welfare of the people of Australia. ENEMY SUBJEOT EMPLOYEES. DISCUSSION BY SYDNEY CITY COUNCIL. (Rec. June 10, 9.45 p.m.) Sydney, June 10. The Finance Committee of the Sydney City Council has discussed a motion_ in favour of dispensing with tho servioes of enemy subject employees, and adopted an amendment that no employee of the council, of enemy nationality, would be_ driven from the council's service until proved guilty of disloyalty to the British Empire. SYNTHETIC SPIRITS. (Rec. June 10, 9.45 p.m.) Melbourne, June 10* With the object of preventing tha manufacture of synthetic spirits, and ensuring that spirits shall be made only, by proper distillation, the importation into the Commonwealth of the ingredients of whisky, rum, brandy, cognac, and oil cognac, has been prohibited. A FAMILY TRAGEDY. Adelaide, June lOi At the inquest on Anna Grane, a verdict of wilful murder was returned against Carl Adolphus Grane, of Hilton. a suburb of Adelaide. Grane killed his wife and their four children ranging from eight to fifteen years, and then shot himself dead. . MEAT PRICES EASIER IN MELBOURNE. . Melbourne, Juno 10. As the result of the Federal Government releasing stocks of frozen meat which otherwise would have been exported the prices on the local market are 2d. to 3d. cheaper. LIGHTHOUSE DUES IN FEDERAL WATERS. Melbourne, Juue 10. The Federal Executive has, approved the following lighthouse dues: —Any ship-less than 4500 tens, Bd. per ton: 4500 tons and upwards, a lump sum. of £150. The dues apply to first arrival at port within three months of the last payment dues. Ships calling at one port only en route to ports outside Australia. half these rates. Government vossels and ships provisioning or coal ing or in distress are exempt.
