•— 9 ; "CINDERELLA." li, f •j™'' splendour and gaiety. a ; Kaioiaoscopio succession of beautiful pic- , tures, with enchanting music all the , i , G Pantomime "Cindorella" producod for tne second time last night by tne J. C. Williamson Company, must be ■ a success. The production is gorgeous, e , vel j by the Williamson stanaard. ihe dressing is remarkably fine) and the stage groupings in ensembles or ballets are bewildering in the richness of the colour schemes. The story has been amended and brought up to dato a little, just to make it fit in, but anyhow the story scarcely matters in a pantomime. Of the principals, Mr. Barry Lupino is the man who works hardest and does most in mirth-provok-ing. He is a rarely gifted comedian. He has dancing and acrobatic skill, which would entitle him to a good , place in a caste if ho had no ofclior attainments, but he has others, lots of them. He has a humour which he can broad and farcical or subtle as the mood fits, and ho can act well enough 1 for legitimate comedy. There aro othor humorists, and other performers who are not humorists—far too many of them to indhidualise. It is a strong company,' and the show they briny is delightful. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The house of vaudeville, His Majesty's I Theatre, is being well patronised this ■ week. T'he revue arranged by Mr. Paul ) Stanhope is one of the chief attractions. It is a feast of humour, entitled "Par- j don Me!" The remainder of tho bill is ; distinctly good. There will be a matinee ! on Saturday afternoon. J THE KING'S THEATRE. Anyone who did not see t'he Queen J Carnival procession, or having seen it wishes to see it again, should visit the Kind's Theatre, where an excellent film , of the big undertaking is being screen- a ed. Photos of the Queen candidates also are shown. The chief of the other 1 pictures is the American drama, "The |j Attorney for the. Defence." On Satur- ® day afternoon there will be the usual J matinee. . j, EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. 1 "The Swindler," a very fine society J drama, is the leading picture in the g current programme at Everybody's 0 Theatre. The principal comedy screen- „ ed is a Keystone, showing "Fatty" Ar- a buckle and Mabel Normand at the San S Diego Exhibition. Photos of the Queen, tl Carnival candidates are reproduced, and J there are other entertaining items. *' MACMAHON'S THEATRE. a " "The Next Generation," a stirring I social drama, of tho inner life, with a i strong love story embodied in the seamy f, side of its mishaps, is the star turn at a MacMahon's Theatre in yesterday's tl change of programme. The picture is gi a fino, emotional social study, quick in w its action and nicely balanced as s- T story-play. Charlie Chaplin continue to be provocative of infinite amusemen in "A Night Out," but this night which has already spread its wild burs over five days, will finally finish tc morrow. Meantinio "The Missin Legacy" adds to the general humoui Tho 'Gaumont Graphic"' supplies th latest topical happenings, and there ar other picture-subjccts of a miscellaneou nature in a good programme. .0: Monday, "Captain Alvarez," a sonsa tional story of the Argentine, in fiv acts, will be produced. THE EMPRESS THEATRE. Part 12 of Selig's sensational wil animal drama, 'The Adventures o Katlilyn," was screened with the nai programme at the Empress Theatr continuous pictures yesterday. Follow ing the course of the story, it is show: that Prince Umballah temporarily occt pies the throne of Allaha, following th death of the king. In terms of th dead monarch's degree, TJmballali offer Kathlyn's father the throne, but he re fuses the honour, and is cast into pri son. Kathjyn then accepts the throne and immediately has her father releas ed. She then commands tho arrest o Umballah for his action in causing th death of the late king. Umballah, how over, escapes, and makes a desporat endeavour to kill Kathlyn and he friends while in quest of hidden got on Volcano Island. Among the episode are an encounter with a wild lion, an a narrow escape, from being overwhelm ed by a volcanic upheaval.
