UPPER HUTT COURT

At the monthly sitting of the Upper Hutt Court, held yesterday, Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided. A youth named Leo Kelly was charged with failing to render personal service under the Defence Act. He was fined ss. and costs 75., default being fixed at 24 hours' military detention. Wm. Edwards was penalised in the sum of 55., with 7s. costs, for allowing a horse to trespass on the railway line. In a civil case, Benge and Pratt v. M. Ouneen, a claim for £9 9s. 3d., judgment was given for plaintiffs by default with 15s. costs.
