BELGIAN SHILLING-FUND
4 £3649 RAISED. A final meeting of the Belgian Christmas Shilling Fund Committee, and the fcj ports and Entertainment Committee of the Mayor's Patriotic Fund ivas held in Banks' Commercial College last night. Mr. A. A.' Marryatt Jfrosided over a small attendance. The secretary (Mr. H. Amos) presented a statement in connection with the Belgian Shilling Fund, which showed the receipts at £3649 15s. ocL, made up by donations as ton and district, £1625 195.,; Hawke's Bay, £706 lis. lOd.; Canterbury, £586 3s. 5d.; Taranaki, £382; Otago, £140 os. Gd.; Auckland, £74 2s. 3d.; Marlborough, £59 17s. 6d.; Wostland, £49 7s':; Nelson, £26 7s. 6d. Out of the total a remittanco was made of £3200. The expenses camo to only a little over £20. while a £20 donation had to be refunded to another fund. A balance in hand of £<108 19s. 2d. was left to be dealt with. Tho report was adopted, and the chairman commented on .the small expanse in raising such a large amount. Aluch of the credit for this, ho said, was duo to Mr. Amos. It was decidcd to forward the balance of £408 19s. 2d. to the Treasury, to bo paid over to the Belgian Fund. The statement of receipts and payments of tho Sports and Entertainment Committee showod receipts as undor: — Lectures, £10 55.; carnival, £315 _ls. 3d.; carnival gift auction, £B3 155.; Maori concerts, £124 25.; Harry Lauder's matinee, £238 2s. 9d.: treasure limit. £56 12s. lOd.; La Palais de Danse, £9 75.; ball (Star Boating Club), £62 75.; military sports, £177 13s. 3d.; military concert, £7G 45.; badges, £3 7s. 3d.; Professional Orchestra concert, £29 -Is. 3d.; South Wellington concert, £-1 155.; donation by Tramway Department, £25: total, £1221 16s. 7d. The payments included remittance to Town Clerk lor Mayor's Fund £919 13s. LI., and to Lady Lirei-pooHs Fund £80 6s. lid. After expenses had been paid a balance in hand of £12 9s. 9d. was left, which it was decidcd to hand to Hie Mayor's Patriotic Fund.
