The committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club lias decided that the New Zealand Cup conditions be tho same as last year. A't the C.J.C. Gr;vnd National meeting the only changes of any note in tho programme is an increase of .£2OO in the stakes tor the Hunters' Hurdles, Hunt Club Clin, Avonhea'd Handicap, Sumner Handicap, and Redcliffs Handicap. The distance of the Hunt Club Cup is to be reduced to two and a half miles, and that of the Grand National Hurdles increased to about two and a quarter miles. The Manawatu Trotting Club's meeting takes place to-day. Local visitors can secure excursion fares on the morning tratn3, and can return home the same evening. All trains stop at Awapuni to set down and . pick up passengers. The Woodlands Hunt Club is to hold its first totalisator meeting on July 2», the day following the Pahiatua fixture. A programme of six events has been drawn up, and stakes to the value of .£212 are to bo giren. The name of Sabana has been claimed for the half-sister rfco Pavlova by Rokeby. St. Sutvrus (St. Ambrose-Gitonella) was among the winners at the Richmond meeting on May 21. Uncle Sam has already run in three Caulfield Cup 3, two of which he has wen. This year he has again been entered for ithe big mile and a half event, and if ho continues to train on his owner will no doubt allow him to try and equal tho retcrd of Paris, who won three Cup 3.
