V CHARGES DISMISSED. (By TeleeraDh—Press AssociattonJ > Auckland, June 8. 5 In the Magistrate's Court, Ernest - George Nourse, jeweller, and George i Robertson Wright, salesman, wero charged with haying sold goods bearing a false trade description, anil that they applied a false trade description to goods sold by them. ' Evidence was given that a policeman asked for a nine carat gold medal and was given one whioli was described as nine carat gold strengthened with 6older. Later he purchased another medal stamped nine carat for 17s. 6d. On assay these medals proved I to be 1.66 carat, consisting of solder, I with a very thin facing of nine carat ■ gold. i The defence was' that the poods were sold to the defendant by a Birmingham firm, and it was not until the complaint by customers that he knew ho had been victimised. He had since made a claim on thp manufacturers for compensation. The Magistrate said the nine-carat stamp was entirely misleading, but it was applied by the manufacturers, not by defendant Nourse. The charges wcro consequently dismissed.
