IS GERMANY HOLDING OUT? (Rec. June 8, 3.35 p.m.) ' Rome, June 8. Tho Italian newspaper "U Secolo" interviewed a well-informed, personage, wild declared that tho reason Germany had not declared war on Italy was because she first desired to secure an undertaking that Austria would not conclude a separate peace. Tho Kaiser would not move against Italy until Austria had been committed to sacrifice her last man, her last thaler, "and Her last inch of territory. On the other hand, overtures had been recently made to the Triple Entente on behalf of the Austrians, who did not wish to sacrifice the Dual Monarchy to tho Kaiser's pride or their own ruler's blindness. [Shortly after tho Italian declaration of war on Austria it was announced that Germany had declared war on Italy. This was asserted both by the Wolff Agency and in official announcements.
