Hebuteme (mentioned in to-day's messages elsewhere) is about- four miles north of Albert, and Moulin Sous Touvent lies in the centre of the angle between the Oise and the Aisne, five miles north-east of Compeigue. The country hero is undulating and thickly wooded, and the, Germans have organised a defence of high degree. It is anticipated that the Allies, after rivetting the Germans' attention bv a powerful blow at one point, intend to follow up by a series of blows, gradually spreading the offensive over the whole front. ATTEMPT TO PIERCE THE ALLIES' LINE. FIGHT FOR A CHATEAU. (Rec. June 9, 1.15 a.m.) Dunkirk, June-„ 8. The Germans have made desperate attempts to pierce the Allies' lino near Pcrvyse (ill Flaiiders), wliero they hold tho Chateau of Vicigne. Assisted by thirty machine guns the Belgian half surround the Chateau. A bodv of Prussians a few_ nights, aso almost succeeded in breaking th© Belgian line, but omitted to inform the Runners in the Chateau what waa occurring. The result wag that when they were hearing tho Belgian troiiches thev were attacked in the rear by their own machine guns, and the majority of them killed., Twenty surrendered, three of them with new modc-l portable machine guns strapped to their shoulders.
