Last, night a largo and enthusiastic patriotic meeting was held at Upper Mcutere, which is a German settlement, most of tho inhabitants being descendants of tlio original settlers. A report wiiicli appeared in the Press that disloyalty was in evidence in the district was indignantly repudiated, and a handsome sum for patriotic funds was promised monthly hv the district till peace is declared. Patriotic speeches were delivered by the members for Motueka and Nelson, and the chairman of the ■\Vaimea County Council.
