The enemy has been expelled from his dominating height before Krithia, an:l there is equally good news from GabaTepe. Mad weather is hampering the operaiions in thy Austro-ltalian campaign. Mr. Martin Donohoe reports desperate attacks on the Kalian front, five separate assaults being hurled back. The lirst general hattie. of the campaign is expected to develop on the Isonzo River. In the Western theatre the Allies' offensive is maintained. The story ol' how the French prepared 1 the way for their recent successes makes interesting reading, 'the Russians have achieved some important successes in Galicia, and are still in control of tho situation around Przemysl. A report ti> the "Morning Post," from Berne (Switzerland), makes reference to a Rumanian Note to Austria, conveying demands which are stated to have been refused. Tho German Press is dividing its attention betwoen reviling the United States aiid angling for Rumania's ntufality—at tho cost of concessions by Austria. Several honours for gallantry in the field by Australians and New Zoalandeis in (.'ailinoli are announced in the list of Birthday Honours.
