♦ m e 6ti n g of the Wellington branch oi the Society for the Prevention of Uruelty to Animals was held on Tuesmu ' Meredith presided, lie secretary reported that 120 horse bandages had been sent in by the lady members of the committee. Colone l Reakes wrote in reference to the public appeal made for funds for the English Army Veterinary Service for military work, and suggesting that as a similar work was being done by New Zealand, the funds should be given for New Zealand's work. He pointed out that some hundreds of trained assistants had been sent from New Zealand to look after sick and wounded horses. It was decided to reply that the letter was under consideration. An initial donation of £5 is all that has been received to date.
