IN REPLY TO "VETERAN."
Sir, —It is with regret I read "Veteian's" answer to "Young New Zealand's" letter. He only gave his opinion, and he has a right to that. And I can also tell you that I know a good many that are of "Young New Zealand's opinion. Veteran is so hot on our young men enlisting, why does he not advocate conscription? What is he afraid of? These people that are so afraid of this, it seems to me, must have some reason. Are their dear ones at the front, I wonder? A lot of peoplo can. see the other fellow's duty, hut have an excuso when it is 1 their own turn. I should like to point out that there are still 'a good many of the well-to-do men's sons about, both at colleges and at the university, and at home, as well as the fellows or shirkers wo seo about. Have not they all a duty? I am looking forward to the day when every man will be made to stand shoulder to shoulder, instead of letting the few willing ones suffer.— I am, etc., FAIR PLAY.
