Official.-—"The enemy on the left bank of the Vistula on Sunday night developed an active artillery fire along the whole front northward of the Pilitza. At four o'clock in the morning, under cover of smoke, and using gas extensively, they attacked with great strength our position on the Bzura, near Urtkovitza, Brohow, Sochaczeff, and Koslow. The attack was characterised by extraordinary tenacity on the Lower Hawka, and notwithstanding the fact that gas fumes were perceptible for nineteen miles behind our frout, all the attacks were repulsed. "The enemy in Galicia attacked forte 7 to 11 westward and north-westward of Przemysl. They approached on Sunday night to within two hundred paces, and gained a footing m the precincts of Fort 7. "An obstinate battle followed, until the afternoon of Monday, when we repulsed the enemy, who sustained enormous losses. Twenty-three officers and 600 men, who entered the fort, were taken prisoner. "The Germans have brought their reserves■into the battle on the Stryj, but the result of the fighting is not yet- known. Our success on the Svitza has been continued. An Austrian official communique states that the Austro-Gernian troops hare penetrated the Russian positions and carried the Stryj. The enemv is retreating towards the Dniester. "We captured 53 officers, 9000 men, 8 guns, and 15 machine-guns."
