Major Norton Francis, of Dunedin, left Auckland for Apia by the Atua on Monday.

Mr. Maughan Barnett, City Organist of Auckland, who came to Wellington to conduct the Royal Choral Society's performance of "Cavalleria Rusticaua," left for the north again yesterday.

Mr. 'William Pryor, secretary, N.Z. Employers' Federation, will leave by the first express for Auckland to-day_ to appear for employers in the boilermakers' and engineers' dispute before the Arbitration Court there.

The death is reported from America of Mr. John Bunny, the obese picture actor, who perhaps ranked next to Mr. Clias. Chaplin as a laughter-promoter on the screen. He is said to have died from Bright's disease at tho age of 53 years. Mr. W. A. Low has been appointed touring manager of Edward Branscombe, Ltd.'s- "Red Dandies," and pro* ceeds to Auckland next week to take over his new position. Mr. E. J. Archibald, accountant at Kirkcaldie and Stains's Napier bfauch, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington. Mr. A. Watson, stationmaster at Napier, has received notice of his transfer to Dannevirke.

Mr J. Walter Doyle, who was in Wellington a couple of years ago as travelling companion with Mr. Alien Doone, is at present acting as publicity a cr e nt for the city of Honolulu at the Panama-Pacific Exposition., Being within fairly easy reach, Hawaii is the happy hunting ground of the American holi-day-maker, and it is Mr. Doyle's business to see that he goes nowhere else if he can help it. Mr. Doyle forwards some beautifully-printed folders and a scries of post-cards illustrating the fish native to* Hawaiian waters.

Mr. Peter Dawson and the members of his concert party will leave for Sydney to-morrow by the Westralia.
