A STRANGE MESSAGE

INTERCOLONIAL VESSEL REPORTED DAMAGED.

Telegraphic advice was received from Farewell Spit last night to tho effect that an intercolonial steamer passed cast at '1.30 p.lll. with a foremast damaged. The message added, "no signals." It is considered probable that the vessel reported is the Westralia, which left Sydney for Wellington direct 011 Thursday. A wireless message received by the owners of tho vessel, the Huddart-Parlcor Co. yesterday stated that she expected to make port at about 4 o'clock this morning, but tlio message made 110 mention of any damage the vessel had recc-ived or of rov.di weather niet with. According to tho message from Farewell Spit the vessel reported should roach Wellington between 8 or 4 o'clock this morning.
