Speaking at Everybody's Theatre la 6* night, under 'the auspices of the Social Democratic Party, Jlr. J. Robertson contrasted the merits of State versus private control of the liyuor traffic. In Russia, he pointed out, the State controlled the output of vodka. It was found at the outset of this great European "War that the sale of this liquor would be detrimental to the interests of the people. Therefore the Russian Government, suppressed its manufacture and sale. The speaker contrasted' Russia's action with Great lirilaiu's when tlie latter found this great evil militating against their success.
