THE FIGHTING IN WEST RUSSIA
SUCCESSFUL ATTACKS BY THE RUSSIANS. The High Commissioner reports: — London, Mny 58, 10.25 p.m. "In the region of Shavli (West Russia, south of the Baltic Provinces), the Russians were successful oil Tuesday and Wednesday. ' "We progressed south-west of.the Muraviewo-Slinvli line, and the lower Dubissa, repulsing the enemy." "We took the offensive at Rosstenv, capturing several hundred prisoners, automobiles, and other trophies. STRONGLY FORTIFIED POSITION CAPTURED. (Rec. May 30.) London, May 29, 3.20 p.m. "In the Shavli region the Russians captured a strongly fortified position at Bubie, taking one thousand German prisoners. "On the lower Dubissa there has been stubborn fighting." AUSTRO-GERMAN TROOPS LEAVING WESTERN GALICIA. (Press Association.) (Reo. May 30, 11 a.m.) Petrograd, May 29. The Russian success at Sieniawa is interpreted to. mean that a number of the Austro-German troops in West Galieia are going to Trentino (in the Italian theatre).
