PATRIOTIC CONCERTS

COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' EFFORTS. ' In view of the success attendiriß last Sunday's concert in the Town Hall, the committee of the Commercial Travellers, Warehousemen's, Merchants, and Central Clubs have arranged for another concert to-morrow night in the Town Hall, the proceeds of which are to go to the fund in, aid of the New Zealand Wounded Soldiers and Sailors and their Dependents. Wellington's leading talent will contribute items at the concert, while Miss Mina Caldow, the well-known contralto, is to sing. The concert will commence at 8.30 p.m., while a silver coin collection will be taken up at the door. Under the auspices of the same committee Mr. Peter Dawson, the worldfamous baritone, is to give a concert in the Grand. Opera House on Wednesday next. Mr. Dawson has agreed to give his services to help on the fund. The Wellington public are impressed with Mr. Dawson's singing when he was last in the City, and it is anticipated that the Grand Opera House will bo crowded on the night of the concert. The box plan for the concert will open at Begg's at 9 o'clock on Monday morning. Another concert that will no doubt be eagerly looked forwards will be a Maori concert to be given in the Town Hall on June 22. This will also be under the same auspices and for the same fund.. Maoris from all parts of New Zealand will take part, as the Maoris are anxious to assist the fund, and towards this end have offered their services. The concert will be under the patronage of their Excellencies Lord and Lady Liverpool, the Prime Miniate*. the Cabinet Ministers and the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke). In connection with this concert the committee has a soheme for the allocation of seats which it will announce shortly.
