News readied Wellington yesterday that Private George 11. I'aterson, a member of tlic British section of the Expeditionary Forces, and a son of Mr. R. W. Ratehson, Roxburgh Street, Wellington had been killed in action ,at the Dardanelles. Ho was born in Christeluu'ch in 1801, and was educated at Wellington College, afterwards serving bis apprenticeship in the engineering trade at Messrs. D. Robertson and Son's Foundry, Wellington. Mr. Paterson left New 'Zealand lor England some two years and a half ago, by the Rotorna, on which .ship he was a refrigerating engineer, afterwards obtaining' the post of 7th engineer on one of the transatlantic liners.
