Grant Hervey has successfully appealed against his conviction on tho forgery charge. His appeal was based on the Judge's action in commenting on tho fact that Hervey had not given sworn ovidenco on his own behalf, and his directions to the jury to disregard TTervey's unsworn statements. The sentence recorded previously now pomes into operation. Hervey has been sentenced to a further two years' imprisonment for attempting to procure £200 from John Norton by falsely pretending to misconduct himself with Norton'si. wife, and falsely promising to supply information which would enable Norton to discover the act of misconduct. As the case now stands, Hervev will servo two yours for attempting to procuio money by false protouces. Dairy Factory Managers should get particulars of the celebrated Victor Clietse Vat.
