SUICIDE OF A CRICKETER
(By Telegraph.'—Press Association.) Christchurch, May 24 the body of N. J. Keano was found hanging to a ladder in the back room ot :Mcholl s auction roms this morning. J. he deceased was about 44 years of a°-e a married man with three children. Ulull January last he was a partner in the firm of Nicholls and Co., furniture auctioneers, for about three years. Upon the dissolution of partnership he was retained as auctioneer until about a mouth ago, when he ceased his connection. He had formerly been in business as a tobacconist in Invcreargill, where ho was. very well known, and was the southland representative wicket-keeper. He was in the past in the Christchureh semor team here. _ Keane suftered from mental depression as the result of financial and business difficulties. In his pocket was louna a telegram threatening to have I 1"", if money was uot paid forthwith. 1 An inquest was held to-night, and a veidict ot suicide while of unsound mind was returned.
