MADAME LINA NYBERG

'Ilia visiting Belgian prima donna, Madame Lina Nyi»erg, ivill make her first appoaranro in Now Zealand at the Grand Opera House this evening. In the operatic selections which til© visiting artist 9 has chosen far her opening conoort are only such items as could be successfully -essayed by an accomplished singer. They belong to the lighter class of grand opera. While they _ may be said to be tuneful and pleasing to Ihe ear, yet they present intricacies which to tho inexperienced appear almost forbidding. In this conncctioji may bo mentioned Mimi's eong from "La Boheme," a number which, it is said, receives an excellent interpretatoin from Madame Nyberg. Although the. various operatic excerpts occupy a fair proportion of the programme, giving the singer ample opportunities for displaying her gifts in this sphere, yet there are other dainty numbers, such as French folk songs of past centuries, whose inclusion will no doubt be found delightfully acceptable. Madame Nyberg will be supported by Mr. Frank Cliailton, haritone, and Mr. Baxter Buckley, solo pianist and accompanist. The second concert will be held to-mor-row evening, when an entirely new programme will be presented.' The box plan is now open at the Bristol Piano Company.
