o SHOULD BE PUT TO USEFUL WORK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dargavllle, May 21. At yesterday's meeting of the Hobson County Council, Mr. W. Giesan proDosed: "That this council is of opinion that all aliens at present interned in New Zealand, or about to be interned in tho near future,' should be put to some remunerative work, and that'this council is prepared to enter into negotiations with the authorities with the view of taking charge of a consignment of such prisoners for the above purpose." The motion was seconded in seven places, and was passod unanimously.

A correspondent suggests that the Railway authorities should be urged to run special trains from the country in connection ivitk the Queen Carnival functions.
