HOSPITAL MILK FARM

NO PURCHASE

SUPPLY PROM STATE FARM SUGGESTED Tho Wellington Hospital Board deoided yesterday not to purchase tho Mangaroa farm which it recently resolved to acquire for tho purposo of having a milk supply of its own for tho Hospital. The rescinding resolution was moved by Mr. B. li. Gardener as follows:— "That tho motion relating to tho purchase of the Mangaroa Farm be rescinded, and that tne whole question of purchasing a dairy farm for the milk supply to the Wellington Hospital and its institutions be reconsidered." Mr. Gardener thought it should be easy to convince the board that they had mado a mistake in deciding to purchaso tho farm. t The Rev. J. Kennedy Elliott secondthe motion. He said that the Government had a good farm near Levin, and if tho hoard could get some arrangement with the State authorities to supply milk from there -..hat should bo satisfactory. Further, milk being a sensitive thing should come down 031 a hotter train service than it did at present, and he thought the Government would meet the board in that matter, too, if they were approached. Mr. J. W. M'Ewan said that whatever happened respecting the purchase of tho farm, the negotiations had brought the need for better milk forcibly under notice, and, thereforo, good had been done. Mr. G. Nash remarked that all tho contributory local bodies had condemned the proposed purchaso, except Pot<ine, the borough which Mr. M'Ewan represented. Tho motion of Mr. Gardener was carried, and it was then resolved to set up a. special committee (consisting of Dr. PJatts-Mills, Mrs. D. M'Laren, Messrs. H. Baldwin, G. Nash, J. Smith, W. Galloway, B. B. Gardener, D. Robort6on, and H. Freeman) to consider tho question of the milk supplied, to the Wellington Hospital and its institutions, and report to the next meeting of the board. - •
