Two prominent horsemen in L. 'Wilson and A. Oliver are without mounts at the Wanganui meeting to-day. Proceedings at Wanganui to-day will open with the Borough Handicap, six turlongs. King Lupin, Hoy, Playoff, uolustream, and Veroneal can all go very last, and as tho track is reported to be m. perfect order smart time should be registered for tho six furlongs.

Vascuiar has been going to do something for a long fame, but judging by his appearance at Hastings he is not ready. Birkful is the latest fancy for the •Pi £? hurdles, and now ranks equal with Black northern. The latter is uncertain, but Birkful'has yet to showform over a distance. Hereford will be having his first race over battens this season, and' Immensity will do better on a soft track. Styrax is a seasoned horse, and can be looked for at the finish, so might Cornelian, who is a great stayer, and was unlucky last year. Good judges are agreed that the two top weights, Merry Koe and Emperador overshadow the field in the Connolly Handicap, but the light-weight Mauiaroa will probably be found running on at the nmsh, as he is a much-improved horse since Hawera.
