HIS EXCELLENCY'S MESSAGE
The communication from His Excellency, the ..Governor to the people of New Zealand which we publish this morning will be welcomed with whole-hearted approval. It is a thoughtful and time!}' message, which will eo straight to the hearts of the people. If there is one more than another that everyone is anxioiis to s&e done it is that the fullest possible provision should bo made for the care and comfort of our gallant sons who have been wounded in that desperate struggle in which they have covered themselves with glory at the Dardanelles. That His Excellency and the Government sliolild have acted so promptly in taking the steps outlined in LoliD Liverpool's message to supplement in so admirable a manner the existing provision for'wounded New. Zealanders will give general satisfaction; and there cailnot be a shadow of doubt that eager response will be made to the call for fiinds to efisure that every possible comfort shall be sent forward. The method specified for the receipt of .donations might bo improved on, for there ai'e many who would be glad to avail themselves of. the privilege 6f contributing small sums who would fihd it more convenient to lodge their contributions at the nearest post office. That, however, is a detail which, if deemed necessary, daft be easily amended.
