ATHLETIC SPORTS.

ASSOCIATION f MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. The Management. Committee of the Wellington Football Association met last night. Mr. A.' E. Wells was in the chair.

The matter of a protest from the St. David's Club / alleging that Fred. Sterling, a member of the Y.M.C.A. sth division team, was over age, was referred to the Boy's Sub-committee.

A number of complaints received from clubs as to the non-attendance of referees at matches were referred to the Keferees' Association.

It was decided to grant permission to a number of boys who had left the Marist Bros.' Tasman Street School and were over age for the sixth division competition, to form a team for the purpose of competing in the fifth B grade.

On account of the all-day Territorial parade on Saturday it was decided to postpone all third division matches on that day.

Notification was_ received from the Thistle second division team that it waß withdrawing from the competition, as the following members had enlisted: — W. Ferguson, W. M'Ardlo, A. Bowie, A. Loadsman, D. Rowlands, F. Marshall, J. Colum, J. Cumming, H. ,Y. Stewart, and F. Dick.

It was decided to instruct the association's delegate to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association to oppose the playing of Broivn Shield matches this season in view of the war.

Mr. T. Shields, who was elected a life vice-president of the club, forwarded a donation of £1 Is.

BILLIARDS Three more games in the Alcock diner tournament were played last night before a good number of spectators. Some of these latter ovoriooked the fact that there was a lift in the building, and climbed the one hundred and three steps that lead to the room.

Of the three games pJayod, that between Bradley and Nee« was the best contested, the winner, Mr. Neos, just getting home by the barest margin. Both men showed good form and judgment. The other games were: W. S. Hampton (received 75) versus A. John ston (received 40), which was won by a comfortable margin by the latter. E. Bolton (received GO) versus W. Sniith (received 40), was won after an exciting game by Bolton. The players to-night are Messrs. Hemmingway, Stevens, Fraser, Dimock, Croll, Kell, Mills, and Nees.
