UNSAVOURY STORY FROM THE KING COUNTRY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Hamilton, May 17. An appalling story of the condition in which a King Country family has been living was told to Mr. Ba-wson, S.M., to-day, when Samuel Temple was callod upon to show cause why his three children, aged 16,11, and 4 years, should not be removed to an industrial home. The police evidence,showed that the family lived at Kihikihi. When the police visited the house they heard the father and children Using language of an utterly disgusting nature) which the witnesses described as more terribly obscene than anything they had ever heard. The. interior of the house was in an ■ appalling state of filth, being literally begrimed with dirt. The floors were caked while the bed clothes were absblutely black and gave off an offensive odour. All the children were illfed and ill-clothed,, while they lived in an atmosphere of immorality. The eldest boy showed a remarkable genius as an artist. The it Was stated, 'was decidedly weak-minded, The Magistrate made an order for the commitment of tye children to an industrial school.. The father was ordered to pay ss. per week each, maintenance.
