SALANDRA A POPULAR HERO GREAT DEMONSTRATIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY Rome, May 16. The King has finally invited Signor Salandra to reconsider his resignation. Several newspapers state that Signor Salandra will reappear in Parliament with an interventionist programme. — Seventy' professors of the University of Rome, in a letter to Signor Salandra, state: "We are proud to have you as a colleague. We hopa your name will be linked with the greatest names in Italy's history." \ Later. The King refi:e>ed to accept Signor Salandra's resignation, and his Ministry will remain in office. KING RENOUNCES HIS PREROGATIVE FATEFUL DECISION LEFT TO PARLIAMENT. Rome, May 16. The journal "II Secolo" says that as the Austrians' final offers still excluded Trieste, the King, after consultation with Signor Giolitti, left the fateful decision, to Parliament, the King relinquishing his right to decide for peace or war. This had modified the Constitution in a manner tho revolutionists never hoped to obtain bloodlessly. The "Tribuna" states that the Salandra Cabinet will remai i in power. The streets are decorated with flags in appreciation of this.
