GOLF.
The Miramar Golf Club's first medal competition was played on Saturday. A strong southerly made conditions unfavourable for good scoring. The best cards returned were: —M. J. Crombie, 92—16—76; F. Barclay, 94—16—78: N. M. Chesney, 93—10—82; A. W. Woon, 88-5-83; H. P. F. Blundell, 93—10— 83; C. E. Richardson, 99-16-83. _ Tho club's Belgian Fund competition this week resulted in a tie, B. L. Taylor (scr.),-M. W. Horton (scr.), A. Woon (4). and J. L. Black (5) all returned cards "1 down." E. S. Douglas, who has just been appointed professional to the Miramar Club, took up his duties on Saturday. Douglas is tho persent holder of both the Open Championship and tho Professionals' Championship of New Zealand. and is considered to be an exccutionally good tcachor of tho gamo.
