"The Allies hare progressed 500 metres north of Arras, in the direction of the sugar refineries at Souchoy. A violent, bombardmont by both sides is proceeding in this sector." • f London, May 16, 1.40 a.m. Paris reports: "North of Ypres, we attacked, carrying several trenches beyond Hetsas, and gained possession of part of Steoustraate, capturing three machine-guns and fifty prisoners. , "North of Arras fresh progress has been made; mors houses have been captured at Neuville-Saint Vaast.'*
